Mud Bogging : A Way To Pass The Time
There are
some that grow up in the city with access to cable T.V., movies theatres and
other various forms of entertainment, but when a person grows up in a rural
area there are still forms of entertainment that can be had. That is where mud bogging comes in handy. All
a person needs is a truck and an attitude toward getting very muddy.
A good truck
is the main thing, one that is equipped to handle the mud. There are many different types of trucks at
the mud bog and even a few cars are jacked up for mudding.
A lift kit
is often applied to a truck to raise it up out of the mud. This gives the truck
better clearance when going through really deep bogs and allows for larger,
more aggressive tread patterns on the tires.
Shocks are
upgraded to ultimate suspension packages. They provide better handling and
control in tough situations
The winner
of a mud bog event is a truck that makes it through the fastest, if no one
makes it all the way then the truck that went the farthest is the winner, often
no one makes it and that’s when a good friend with a tow strap comes in handy.

Speed Pit #4 WVIF Mud Bog Mineral Wells WV October 11 2014
Hillbilly Proud headed to the WVIF (West Virginia Interstate Fairgrounds) Mud Bog in Mineral Wells, West Virginia on October 11, 2014. The Speed Pit racing was the 10th and final race of the season for the Tri State Mud Racing Association. Plenty of fast trucks ran for hours across the speed pit with tires in the air and pedals to the floor. The Little Deep Pit is what they call their middle pit at WVIF. The first two deep pit classes threw the mud far and wide racing through it. The last pit of the night was the Deep Pit. The final two deep pit classes including the tractor tire class tried to make it through the deep nasty mud, and a few actually did. It was an awesome day or racing and bogging with nearly 250 runs through the mud.

Mud Bog #11 Reedy WV October 4 2014
Hillbilly Proud visited Reedy, WV for the Town of Reedy Mud Bog on October 4, 2014. I love the fact that this little town puts on a mud bog and that the community supports it so much. The day started with a musical performance by local Autumn Blair and a couple of dirt track racers brought their cars for the kids to see and sit in. Many a local driver put their trucks and ATVs in the pit for some good muddy fun. It was the first cold day of fall but that didn't stop the drivers or fans from having a great time. I wish more little towns would throw mud bogs for their locals.

Mud Bog #4 Brooke County Fair Wellsburg WV September 6 2014
Hillbilly Proud headed to Brooke Hills Park in Wellsburg, West Virginia on 9-6-2014 for the Brooke County Fair Mud Bog. It was a great day for mud bogging but a bad day for mud bog trucks. There were several wrecks with a couple of rides ending up on their sides and several more with bad breaks. The pit was challenging as ever and the trucks that made it through the full 200 ft. really had to work for it. We had a great time and appreciate their hospitality.

Mud Bog #6 Randolph County Fair Beverly WV September 7 2014
The Randolph County Fair has a very beautiful location in Beverly, West Virginia. It is a great place for a mud bog. Hillbilly Proud headed that way on 9-7-2014 to get all of the great muddy action, and we weren't disappointed. The pit was deep and challenging and although there weren't a large amount of trucks there that day, the ones that were there were all quality rides. The weather was perfect and we had a great time hanging out with our friends from Tucker County 4x4 who ran the event. If you get a chance next fall you should check this mud bog out.

Mud Bog #1 Valley District Fair Reedsville VFD WV August 16 2014
We at Hillbilly Proud have always enjoyed our visits to Reedsville VFD just south of Morgantown, WV because of their nice deep pit. This time the mud bog was part of the Valley District Fair held on 8-16-2014 and the pit was as deep and challenging as ever. Several trucks made it through on this August night but they all had to work hard for it. We had a great time as usual and are thankful to the Reedsville VFD for having us.

Hillbilly Proud headed to Gasline Motorsports in Lore City, Ohio outside of Cambridge on 8-2-14. We had been there once before for some Jeep trail riding about 5 years earlier, and returned on this rainy Saturday for a mud bog competition. There weren't a lot of competitors, but every mud truck there was pretty sweet. The mud pit was in the middle of Gasline Motorsports which features several miles of trails for off roading, ATV riding, camping, and mudding. We had a great time and hope they have many more mud bog competitions in the future.

Hillbilly Racing #3 Mud Bog Rada WV July 5 2014
Hillbilly Proud headed to Rada, West Virginia, which is halfway between Romney and Moorefield, during the July 4th weekend to cover the Hillbilly Racing Mud Bog. The day featured the fastest of rails and trucks in the mud bog, a hand in hand mud foot run, the kids on the power wheels, and an ATV mud bog that included a snowmobile ripping across the pit. It was a great day of mud fun and a great way to celebrate the birth of our great country.

#5 Shortys Hollow PA Mud Bog May 11 2014
Hillbilly Proud headed back to Shorty's Hollow Mud bog in Girty, Pennsylvania outside of Apollo on 5-11-14 for their Mudder's Day celebration. Shorty's hole was better than ever with a thick mud that challenged each and every truck for the entire 200 ft. A couple rails skipped across the top but everybody else had to bog their way through the thick sludge. Shorty's had their biggest crowd to date and with perfect sunny weather and awesome muddy action everybody had a wonderful Mother's day, or Mudder's Day.
